AML & KYC Policy
How Xwork prevents money laundering and verifies the identities of the people who earn and pay on the platform. Last updated July 2026.
1. Our commitment
Xwork is committed to preventing money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and other financial crime on the platform. This policy summarises our Anti-Money-Laundering (AML) program and our Know-Your-Customer (KYC) and Know-Your-Business (KYB) controls. It works alongside our Terms of Service, User Agreement and Privacy Policy.
2. Identity verification (KYC)
Freelancers verify their identity before their earnings can be paid out. Verification uses a government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license or national ID), a live selfie, and an automated face-match check; borderline cases are escalated to manual review by our trust & safety team.
We check that the country on the submitted ID matches the country on the account, and each verified identity can be linked to only one active account. Providing false or altered documents is a serious violation and results in account closure.
3. Payment verification (KYB / source of funds)
Clients confirm a valid payment method before funds move through escrow. When real-money processing is enabled, payment collection, card verification and payout onboarding are handled by regulated, PCI-DSS-compliant payment providers; Xwork does not store raw card numbers or bank credentials.
4. Transaction monitoring & sanctions screening
Money on Xwork moves only through a controlled escrow flow with an append-only ledger, so every fund, fee, release, refund and withdrawal is recorded and auditable. We monitor for patterns associated with abuse or laundering (for example, attempts to move payments off-platform, structuring, or mismatched identity/location signals) and screen against applicable sanctions and watch-lists through our payment partners.
5. Prohibited activity
You may not use Xwork to launder money, finance illegal activity, evade sanctions, or transact in prohibited goods or services. Taking payments off-platform to avoid escrow, fees or monitoring is prohibited and removes your protections.
6. Reporting & cooperation
We investigate suspicious activity and, where required by law, freeze funds, close accounts and report to the relevant authorities. To report suspected fraud or money laundering, contact info@thexwork.com or use the reporting tools on the platform.
7. Record-keeping
We retain verification records, transaction ledgers and related information for the period required by applicable law, and handle that data in line with our Privacy Policy.
